Verse 122The Emptiness of All Things
Verse 122vastv-antare vedyamāne śanair vastuṣu śūnyatā ।
tām eva manasā dhyātvā vidito ’pi praśāmyati ॥When another object is being perceived, the emptiness in all things [may be perceived]. Meditating on that emptiness alone with one’s [full] attention, though [the object] is still perceived, one settles down & becomes peaceful.
Simplified Steps
•
Focus on one object exclusively; let go of everything else
•
When the mind has settled, stay focused on the object and notice that everything but the object of focus appears unreal and empty of specificity
•
Contemplate that emptiness until the object too appears empty of any specific, independent nature
•
Relax into the quiet spaciousness of pure being.
