Yukti #106Verse 131
Empowered II
Verse 131ahaṃ mamedam ityādi-pratipatti-prasaṅgataḥ  nirādhāre mano yāti tad-dhyāna-preraṇāc chamī In everyday life, when one hears oneself saying phrases like ‘I am…’ or ‘this is mine’, seize the opportunity to inquire [into what these words (‘I’ or ‘my’) refer to]. The mind tries to find a referent, but it cannot. Impelled [toward the truth] by this meditative contemplation, one becomes peaceful.
Simplified Steps
Throughout your day, notice when you use the words ‘I’, ‘my’, or ‘mine’
On each such occasion, look to see what this concept ‘I’ actually refers to
Is the referent different each time, or do you fail to find a referent?
If you find no consistent referent of the term ‘I’, what does that tell you?
Abide in the space of simple beingness that cannot be reduced to a concept or self-image.
